There are a million and one fantastic locations for photoshoots in Austin. Here are my TOP 5 favorite locations to have a photo session in and around the Austin area. These locations are great for any session. Family Session, Maternity, Seniors, and even outdoor newborn sessions!
#1 Brushy Creek Park
This location is technically in Cedar Park, but it’s not too far from Austin. It is a 90-acre park that sits next to a creek along with an almost 8 mile walking and biking trail. It has tons of nature views and is notorious for catching amazing sunrises and sunsets. This is one of my go-to locations for family, maternity, and seniors. It never fails!
#2 Mueller Southwest Greenway
A central Austin park that packs a punch. Mueller Southwest Greenway is typically used by neighbors to walk their dogs, but it’s also really great location for photoshoots. There’s a small pond, lots of greenery, trees, and a beautiful un-manicured landscape. I love that this park isn’t well known and overly crowded. And it’s centralized location is great for North and South Austinites alike.
#3 Common Ford’s Ranch
This park is what Hill Country dreams are made of! It’s filled with nature scenic and peaceful views with wide hiking trails and rolling hills throughout the park. Plus a rustic cabin and waterfront to boot! It’s located near Bee Caves along Lake Austin. If you’re looking for the opposite of urban, this is your spot.
#4 The Sekrit Theater
This location is so special and a little “sekrit”. It’s a huge private lot that looks very unassuming from the outside, but once you walk through the gates you are amazed by all of the odds and ends here. There’s a stone fountain, a flower wall, old trucks and buses, old pianos, an outdoor movie theater, as well as tons of other eclectic items throughout the property. There are countless spots to take photos here. My favorite though is the greenhouse with checkered floors. It reminds me of old Austin… weird, cool, and absolutely beautiful.

#5 Butler Metro Park
This park is located in Central Austin. Out of all the parks in Austin, this one has the best view of the downtown city skyline. The park is huge. Miles long it has 2 ponds, open fields, trees, and it sits next to the Long Center terrace! If you like an urban feel with a little bit of nature vibes, you really can’t beat this location.
