Why You Should Include Grandparents In Your Next Family Photo Shoot | Austin Family Photographer

Below are my reasons why you SHOULD involve Grandparents in your next Family Session.

  • They’re a big help

If you have multiple children, especially little ones, Grandparents are a big help at a photo shoot. They are an extra set of eyes for those toddlers that like to take off in multiple directions and an extra set of hands to hold those beautiful grand-babies. They can also be a great help behind the camera as well. I’m great with kids, but if it’s your first session with Yellowbird Photography, I’m still a stranger to your children. Grandparents are great at getting their grandkids to smile like no one else can.

  • Cherish the bond

If your kids are lucky enough to have a good relationship with their grandparents, it’s a great way to capture the bond between them. There’s something uniquely special about the relationship between Grandparents and their Grandkids. It’s a bond like no other. Maybe they give their grandchildren endless cookies and ice cream when they’re at their house. Or maybe Granddad loves to take them fishing. Having photos of them together will always remind them of the special bond they had with their Grandparents and will be something they will cherish for years to come.

  • It shows appreciation

Inviting Grandparents to your family photoshoot will make them feel appreciated and loved. Grandparents love to feel included, especially if they live far away or mainly rely on FaceTime for interaction. It puts them right in the epicenter of your life and documents the generational impact they’ve made. What an incredible way to say “Thank You” for the sacrifices they made to bring you all to this very sacred moment.

  • A thoughtful gift

In 10… 20… 30 years, how will your family remember loved ones? Will it be on an Instagram feed or a cell phone? I doubt it. Those things are temporary and probably won’t stand the test of time. Prints and albums are such meaningful gifts. Having a tangible item that your family can hold, keep, and pass down is something that you can’t put a price tag on.

  • The obvious

And of course, there’s the obvious reason. No one on this earth will live forever and we are all on borrowed time. Documenting Grandparents as part of your family is something you will never regret doing. These photos will be something that the entire family will appreciate forever. Photography is a way to freeze a moment in time you’ll never get back.
