This family was such a joy to photograph and welcomed me into their home with so much warmth. They were calm, loving, and clearly so connected with one another. They also had the most beautiful black lab, who was absolutely convinced he belonged in every single photo. God, I love dogs! He followed us from room to room and happily snuck his way into moments whenever possible. It added such a fun and authentic layer to their at home newborn session and felt very true to their everyday life.
They were also navigating life with a newborn and a toddler who was almost three, which always brings a little unpredictability. At one point, big sister needed a break, so Dad took her downstairs for a snack and some one on one time. While that was happening, Mom and baby Dean stayed upstairs and we focused on just the two of them. Those moments were incredibly peaceful and gave Mom the chance to slow down, cuddle her baby, and really soak in those early newborn days. It was simple, quiet, and so meaningful.
Life with a newborn and a toddler can feel chaotic, exhausting, and overwhelming at times, but those are often the seasons we look back on most fondly. The photos we capture during these early days hold so much value because they preserve a chapter that passes far too quickly. Even in the mess and noise, there is so much beauty, and you will never regret having images that reflect what your life truly looked and felt like during that season.
At home newborn lifestyle sessions are about embracing real life as it is. There is no pressure for perfection, no rigid posing, and no expectations beyond simply being present with your family. Dogs wander through frames, toddlers take snack breaks, and babies set the pace. That is where the magic lives. I am always so grateful when families trust me to document these fleeting moments, and this session was one I will truly cherish.
